Writing Skills Workshops

During the first half of each semester, the Writing Resource Center offers workshops on a variety of writing-related topics. Most workshops run from one to two hours.

Approximately one week before each workshop, you will receive registration information by email, so be sure to check you JMLS email account regularly.

Moving From Objective to Persuasive Writing: The Art of Spinning Language

This review of grammar rules and parts of speech is filled with explanations and exercises. It will benefit any degree candidate who needs a brief "refresher course" before beginning to write.

Organizing Your First Memo: Understanding IRAC and Its Kin

This interactive workshop will help you understand how to organize legal memos and will prepare you to write your first memo.

Avoiding Plagiarism: Workshop for International Students

Plagiarism is a serious academic concern. Sanctions for plagiarizing can be severe. In this workshop, you'll learn what plagiarism is and how to avoid it. The workshop will give students the opportunity to identify plagiarism and to practice proper attribution, paraphrase, and quotation. If you have questions about what is or is not plagiarism, this workshop is for you.

3 Ps: Punctuation, Pronouns, and Parallelism
