SCHOLARSHIPS: SOUTH SUBURBAN BAR ASSOCIATION
Selection Criteria
- The recipient of the Scholarship Award shall be a deserving student of an accredited local law school.
- The student must be a resident of the South Suburbs of Cook County and must have a present interest to practice law in the South Suburbs upon graduation.
- The committee will consider Financial need and the applicant can be expected to document his/her financial need when requested.
- Scholastic achievement in law school will be considered by the Scholarship Committee but is not the sole determinative factor. It is the belief of the Board of Directors of the South Suburban Bar Association that most law students after enrollment and maintaining good standing with his/her law school has demonstrated a reasonable degree of scholastic achievement.
Requirements
1. Each applicant must submit a brief resume and cover letter (200 word maximum) indicating why they want to practice on the Southside. The Committee may conduct interviews or may in its discretion recommend a candidate to the Board of the South Suburban Bar Association based upon a review of submitted resumes.
2. The selected candidate must attend the South Suburban Bar Association’s Installation Dinner Dance to be held on December 2007(date to be determined) in order to receive the Scholarship Award.
Deadline
- Resumes and coverletters must be received no later than October 5, 2007 in order to receive full consideration for the South Suburban Bar Association Scholarship.
