SCHOLARSHIPS: RHODE ISLAND BAR FOUNDATION

Thomas F. Black Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund

This scholarship is a one year non-renewable award for full-time students who are Rhode Island residents entering their first year of law school in September 2004.  The purpose of the Rhode Island Bar Foundation Scholarship Program is to support high legal practice standards by providing financial assistance to Rhode Island residents who show promise that they will become outstanding lawyers and demonstrate financial need in order to study law.

Criteria for Award

Submit application form along with 2 letters of recommendation from person who know you well. Applicants must also forward a copy of the FAFSA. Submit any detailed explanations of financial need along with any pertinent documents. 

Terms of Award

Scholarships awards shall be exclusively for tuition and related expenses by persons domiciled in the State of Rhode Island who enrolls as a full-time student in programs leading to the award of the L.L.B. or J.D. degree offered by law schools in one of the United States or District of Columbia and accredited by the American Bar Association.

Amount of Award

This year the Foundation intends to make one award of $10,000.00 to a prospective first year law student for the 2004-2005 academic year.
