Fair Housing Scholarships
Horwitz, Horwitz & Associates, Thelma Borger Hilst & Gordon McNown
The John Marshall Law School is pleased to announce the establishment of scholarships for students who plan to study or who are enrolled in The John Marshall Law School Fair Housing Clinic.
Eligibility Criteria
Scholarship Applicants must:
- Be enrolled at The John Marshall Law School and completed their first year of legal studies (preference is given to an evening student for the Horwitz scholarship)
- Be a student in good academic standing
- Complete an Application Form (must complete a form per each scholarship)
- Submit a copy of Resume
- Submit a 500-word essay that describes educational background, why you want to work in the Fair Housing Clinic, your future legal goals, and any work you’ve done in civil rights and fair housing. (For the Thelma Borger Hilst the essay topic should be “The Importance of Family.”) (The McNown Scholarship will be awarded to students who have an interest in working on housing problems concerning elderly persons. Please describe in your essay)
Deadline:
Please submit a complete application to Ms. Jackson in the Office of Admission no later than Monday, August 27, 2007.
Awards: (must complete a form per each scholarship)
- Horwitz, Horwitz & Associates: An award will be made in an amount equal to two credit hours. Preference given to evening students
- Thelma Borger Hilst: Awarded to students working in the clinic in the amount equal to two credit hours. The essay topic should be “The Importance of Family.”
- McNown: one $1,000.00 scholarship will be awarded to students interested in workingon housing problems concerning elderly persons.
