Puerto Rican Bar Foundation Scholarship

 

The Puerto Rican Legal Defense & Education Fund (PRLDEF) was founded in 1972 to struggle for social change and secure justice and equality for Latinos. The Education Division works to ensure that students of color have full and equal access to the legal profession. Through a variety of approaches including mentorship programs, LSAT preparatory courses, financial scholarships and internships, the Divisions continues to assist new generations of quality public interest attorneys serving the Latino community.

PRLDEF is pleased to announce the 2005-2006 Scholarship Program for the Puerto Rican Bar Association that awards a $2000.00 scholarship

 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a 1st or 2nd year student enrolled at an ABA approved Law School in a JD program (3rd year evening students are eligible to apply)
  • Must be a Latino Law students with financial need and academic promise

 

Requirements

1.      Submit a complete and accurate application

2.      Submit an official transcript

3.      Submit a Resume (2 page Max)

4.      Financial Aid notice from your school indicating the amount awarded for the 2004/2005 academic year

5.      1040 Tax Form

6.      Submit a personal statement no longer than two pages discussing your career goals, school and community activities, and any activities demonstrating your commitment to public interest work.

7.      Submit up to two letters of recommendation (Optional) which specifically comment on your public interest/ community work. .

 

Deadline:

All complete applications must be submitted by March 4, 2006

No extensions will be granted; no exceptions will be made.

Postmarked by March 4, 2006 will be considered
