Trial Advocacy & Dispute Resolution Honors Board and Council
The Trial Advocacy & Dispute Resolution Honors Board and Council is a nationally recognized program that offers a variety of activities for students selected to serve as either board or council members. Whether a student's interest is litigation, arbitration, negotiation, mediation or client counseling, members of both the honors board and its supporting council participate in numerous intra- and interscholastic competitions and programs. Students are selected from the top one-third of their class.
Trial advocacy is the simulation of lower court trials, and dispute resolution is the process of resolving disputes between parties. The program advances John Marshall students' skills in advocacy, professionalism and ethics through the intra and interscholastic competitions, periodic lectures , panel discussions and demonstrations. The honors program also allows students to review social and legal aspects of current issues affecting litigation and alternative dispute resolution, and draft and publish articles in the school's newsletter Nota Bene.
