Summer Access to LexisNexis and Westlaw

John Marshall Students may extend their LexisNexis and Westlaw passwords for summer use if certain conditions are met.  For more information on registering for full access privileges, click here.   Students who do not register their passwords will have limited summer access.

LEXISNEXIS
Continuing Students

LexisNexis offers full access privileges over the summer as long as you certify that your access will be used for one of the following:

  • Summer School
  • School-Related Research Assignment
  • Moot Court Research
  • Law Review or Journal Research
  • Working as a Professor's Research Assistant
  • Non-Profit Externship
  • Unpaid Internship/Externship
  • Bar Review

"Academic purposes" do not include research conducted for a law firm, corporation or other entity (other than a professor or law school) that is paying the student to conduct said research or that is passing along the costs of said research to a third party. These are deemed "commercial purposes". Read the complete Policy on Use of LexisNexis Law School Educational IDs.

Register for LexisNexis Summer Access here.

If you do not register, your LexisNexis law school ID will be limited to only career materials as of June 1, 2008.

If you have questions or need assistance registering your password, contact Stacy Cavin, our LexisNexis Account Executive, stacy.cavin@lexisnexis.com

Graduating Students
Graduating students can sign up for summer access privileges as well. Graduating IDs will be extended to August 1, 2008.  Use is subect to the same terms as continuing students face, above.

Just like with LexisNexis, summer access is subject to the terms and conditions of the Westlaw Law School Student User Agreement (pdf):

If you do not qualify for full access, you will still have a total of 2 hours of Westlaw research time before it deactivates.

If you have questions or need assistance registering your password, contact Mike Bunting, our Westlaw Account Representative at mike.bunting@thomsonreuters.com.

Graduating Students
Graduating 3Ls/LLMs passwords expire at the end of May. You can receive extended time on your Westlaw password this summer to study for the bar exam.
