Friday, April 23, 2010 Judge Philippe Kirsch, first president of the International Criminal Court, will give the 2010 Belle R. and Joseph H. Braun Memorial Lecture as the keynote address for the symposium, "International Justice in the 21st Century," on April 23, 2010. The symposium is sponsored by the John Marshall Law Review. The symposium will examine the role of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the advancement of international law and justice. In addition to Judge Kirsch, the symposium will feature several leading experts in international law including:
Speakers will address the impact of the ICC, the crossroads between the law and politics of international prosecutions, and re-engagement of US leadership. The symposium comes at a crucial time, as the first review conference of the ICC will be held in the summer of 2010 in Uganda, where nations of the world will gather to consider amendments to the Court’s statute. CLE credit will be offered. |
