Microsoft Windows 7 is available for purchase for students in two versions; Professional and Ultimate. The chart below indicates the different versions of Windows 7 offered by Microsoft:

Available Addons
Along with Windows 7, Microsoft has released a free antivirus program called Microsoft Security Essentials, or MSE. The free program actively detects viruses, spyware, malware, trojans and rootkits to keep your computer and information safe.
MSE can be installed on any computer running Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 More information about the software and how to obtain it can be found on the JMLS Microsoft Security Essentials page.
System Requirements
To run Microsoft Windows 7 on your computer you need to meet the following minimum requirements. If you are unsure or have questions please contact the Help Desk.
- 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
- 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
- 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
- DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
