ITS Resources available for Faculty and Staff

The John Marshall Law School offers faculty and staff many computer resources on the campus. We provide the latest computers and software to use.

In addition, we have extensive wireless internet access throughout the campus so that you can easily connect your laptop to our network.

Computer Hardware

We provide the latest Dell desktop computers to our full time faculty and staff members. We issue desktop or laptop PCs depending on the needs of the individual and/or the department he or she serves. When notebook computers are issued by JMLS, for work purposes, the user is subject to the laptop appropriate use policy. The minimum equipment specifications on typical JMLS issued PCs are as follows:

Software

All faculty computers come with a standard set of software applications installed:

  • CD-RW/DVD-ROM units with DVD reading software
  • Multiple USB ports (including 2 upfront), especially good for flash drives!

  • Cyberlink PowerDVD DX Reader software
  • Internet Explorer 7
  • Intel Core 2 Duo processors (2GHz+ speed)

The ITS department regularly upgrades staff and faculty computer equipment to provide reliable and up-to-date computing experience. Our policy on computer upgrades is given here.

Network File Storage

Network file storage is available at any time while on the John Marshall Law School’s network. Network storage offers innumerable benefits:

Most users will be mapped to multiple drives when they first log in. Depending on the department the user is assigned to, the person will see various drives with differing drive letter names (G:, H:, I:, etc..). All users, however, will receive at least an F: and X: drive.

Printing

Most full time faculty and many staff are given individual LaserJet printers for work usage. Depending on the department and location, users also have access to shared network printers for large or complex printing. We provide the faculty and staff the ability to send large print jobs to these printers:

Network Connectivity

The ITS department has set up numerous ways for faculty and staff to connect to the network. For security purposes we have the following features enabled:

Wireless Connectivity

The John Marshall Law School provides the faculty and staff the ability to connect wirelessly from any place within the campus. The Help Desk can provide any assistance needed for setup and configuration.
