Microsoft Corporation has recently released a free antivirus software that actively scans for viruses, spyware, rootkits and trojans. The software is relatively lightweight and can be used to replace existing commercial or paid subscription based programs. Microsoft Security Essentials can also be downloaded and installed free of charge.
