Lindsey Beukema has been named the 2005
recipient of the Sargis-Miner Scholarship. The $20,000 award can be renewed
throughout her law school career provided she remains in good standing.
Beukema received a bachelor's degree
from Tulane University where she majored in philosophy and women's studies, and
minored in French. She had been working at National Louis University before
enrolling at John Marshall.
This is the second Sargis-Miner
Scholarship to be awarded. The scholarship was established by Florence Miner in
memory of her cousin, David Sargis, a 1978 graduate of The John Marshall Law
School. He practiced law for 18 years before his untimely death in 1995. Miner
chose to memorialize her cousin through this scholarship, as a living tribune
to his integrity and concern for others.
"I am so grateful to Florence Miner for
her support. This scholarship is a great benefit to me," said Beukema.
Lindsey Beukema (center), the 2005
Sargis-Miner Scholar, is congratulated by Betty Johnson, executive director of
Development and Alumni, and William Powers, associate dean for Admission and
Student Affairs.
