UIC Professor Leads Discussion of Darfur Genocide

Professor Matthew Lippman of the University of Illinois at Chicago led a discussion Nov. 7 on the genocide in the Darfur region of western Sudan. The area has been suffering violence and destruction since February 2003. Lippman, a guest of the John Marshall chapter of Amnesty International, is a recognized legal writer on genocide.

Asian-Pacific American Student Association Celebration

Student members of the Asian-Pacific American Law Students Association welcomed Ron Almirson (J.D. '93) (third from left), first president of the association, to the annual celebration in October. Renaissance Society Attends "Wicked"

Members of the newly organized Renaissance Society at The John Marshall Law School met in the lobby after enjoying a performance of the musical "Wicked" at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts Oriental Theatre. The Renaissance Society plans other cultural outings throughout the academic year. His article "Vicarious Liability of the Employer of an Apparent Servant" will be published in the fall 2005 issue of the Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice Law Journal.





Professor Mark E. Wojcik

Activities

With Rocco J. Claps, director of the Illinois Department of Human Rights, he gave a presentation on Nov. 15, 2005, on "Discrimination: Privacy Issues in the Workplace and Beyond."  The two explained recent amendments to the Illinois Human Rights Act and procedures for filing complaints with the Illinois Department of Human Rights.

Mark your calendar for November 30, 12:00 p.m., room 3 east for our annual holiday party. Student organizations awards as well as the favorite professor award will be presented. We will serve a delicious lunch and all are welcome.

The John Marshall Vocal Ensemble is looking for students interested in participating in the choir. Professor Seng conducts the choir and a program are planned for the student annual holiday party in November. Please see Miss Criss if you are interested.
