The John Marshall Law School Chapter of
Habitat for Humanity will begin another exciting year of service work with its
first meeting, Tuesday, September 6 at 5:15pm in room 402.
This year holds many exciting
opportunities for volunteers in a wide range of areas. The Building
Committee is planning at least one build date with a Chicago chapter
affiliate and is always looking for new members. Build days are a great way for
students to experience a hands-on effort at the very core of Habitat for
Humanity's mission. While building the house, students not only have the
opportunity to assist in various construction jobs, but are also able to
interact with the homeowners and other volunteers. The Fundraising
Committee plans to raise moe than $1,000 this year, and is working on new
events to help them reach that goal. The Education Committee is
currently exploring opportunities to assist the Lake County chapter with their
family development and education seminars for homeowners, and the Legal
Representation Committee has several pro bono projects in the works,
including resolving title issues and organizing a seminar on estate planning
issues as a prelude to potential future drafting of wills and related documents
for homeowners.
If you are already a member of Habitat
for Humanity or are interested in joining our group this year, please attend
our first meeting on Tuesday, September 6 at 5:15pm in room 402.
