Hodge Joins Lawyering Skills Staff

Joanne Simboli Hodge has joined the Lawyering Skills faculty as a visiting assistant professor for the 2004-2005 academic year. She will be teaching LS-I courses, along with a doctrinal class in the spring.

Hodge is now a writing specialist at DePaul University College of Law working with first-year students and recruiting and mentoring students for judicial externships and clerkships. She has been an adjunct professor teaching advanced legal drafting and appellate writing at DePaul and employment discrimination law at Loyola's human resource and industrial relations graduate program. In addition, she is an outside mediator for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Hodge received a B.A. from Swarthmore College and a J.D. from Northwestern University. She began her legal career as a law clerk for Judge Luther Swygert at the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, and was an assistant corporation counsel for the City of Chicago in its Law Department from 1986 to1998.

She served as an administrative law judge for the Illinois Human Rights Commission from 1998-1999, and was an associate at Neal, Murdock & LeRoy from 2000 to 2003, before joining the DePaul faculty.
