Women's Law Caucus Hosts "Dress for Success"The John Marshall Women's Law Caucus will host its annual "Dress for Success" program on the 8th floor of the CBA Building on Wednesday, April 14th from 12:30 _ 3 p.m. Representatives from Marshall Fields and the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salon will conduct the event in a "fashion show-like" manner. In addition, the caucus is providing a luncheon provided by Monday's Restaurant and will offer free makeup and hairstyling consultations from Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salon. Elizabeth Arden has also agreed to provide a wonderful discount to John Marshall students who would like to schedule appointments at their salon. In addition, the caucus will raffle a MicroMash bar review package to one lucky winner! The cost is $5 for students and $10 for professionals to attend the event. All proceeds will benefit Fertile Hope, an organization that funds research of infertility caused by cancer treatment. Top Of PageStudent AccomplishmentsJuan LinaresPublicationsHis article, "The Development Dilemma: Reconciling U.S. Foreign Direct Investment in Latin America with Laborer's Rights: A Study of Mexico, The Dominican Republic and Costa Rica," has been published by the North Carolina Journal of International Law and Commercial Regulation. The premise of the article is that adherence to recognized labor rights and standards are essential to the attraction and maintenance of Foreign Direct Investment, and in turn, the economic well-being of both the United States and its Latin American neighbor countries. Accordingly, observance of workers' rights in Latin America is imperative for production to be considered legitimate. Joe Lisiecki (J.D. '90)is a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. He was recalled to active duty and is currently in Iraq with the 1st Marine Division, serving as a civil affairs officer. In his job he meets with the locals, both friendly and unfriendly, gathering information and trying to help them. These photos show him somewhere in the Sunni Triangle. Phi Alpha Delta Initiation - 5:00 p.m., Baim Courtroom The Corporate Law Association/Criminal Law Society will present speakers from the ARDC who were former State's Attorneys at its meeting at 12:45 p.m. in room 1200A. The discussion will center on white collar crime. Delta Theta Phi will be selling "Shoes" for the March of Dimes. Please donate. At 12:00 p.m. in room 3 east on April 12 there will be a special luncheon featuring speeches from the candidates running for the SBA offices. There will also be a presentation of student awards.
