Intellectual Property Update Given at Two-Day Conference At The John Marshall Law School

The hottest topics in intellectual property will be examined at the 42nd Annual Conference on Developments in Intellectual Property Law, Feb. 26 and 27 at The John Marshall Law School, 315 S. Plymouth Ct., Chicago.

Judges and lawyers from Motorola, Ford Motor Co., Exxon Chemical, Leo Burnett Advertising, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the leading law firms will share their expertise in examining a myriad of topics.

The Feb. 26 morning program opens at 9 a.m. with a discussion of "Advertising Issues When You Are on the Internet," followed by a 9:45 a.m. program about "Proving Infringement Under the Doctrine of Equivalents After Hilton-Davis." The 10:45 a.m. program will be "Domestic and Foreign Design Protection: The Cost-Benefit Alternative," followed by an 11:30 a.m. session, "Intellectual Property Licensing in the Corporate Environment."

The afternoon program opens at 2 p.m. with "Yes, Software Can Be Patented," followed by a litigation panel discussion: "Intellectual Property Litigation Perspectives and Expectations: Does Trying An IP Case Have To Be So Trying?"

The Friday, Feb. 27, program opens at 9 a.m. with an examination of "Making the Internet Safe for Authors & Composers: Copyright in the Digital Age," followed by a 9:45 a.m. program, "Welcome to the World of Early Publication, Broadened Re-Examination, Prior User Rights and Other Current Legislative Changes to Your Practice" and a 10:45 a.m. discussion about "Intellectual Property Audits: A Necessity or a Fad?"

The afternoon session at 1:45 p.m. will be an examination of recent developments in intellectual property law focusing on trade secrets, copyrights, trademarks and patents.
