L.J. 493 (1994), was cited three times in the law review article, "No Contest Clauses In California Wills and Trusts: How Lucky Do You Feel Playing The Wheel Of Fortune?", 1997 Whittier Law Review, in an article by Sharon J. Ormond. Professor Michael J. PolelleActivitiesHe presented a lecture to the McHenry County Bar Association about the implications of the Best v. Taylor Machine Works decision on February 27, 1998. He has also arranged for Dr. Federico Mioni of Bologna, Italy to spent a week as a scholar in residence at the law school. PublicationsAt the invitation of the Illinois Bar Journal, he wrote an article about the Illinois Supreme Court's recent invalidation of the Illinois tort reform. The article, "Best v. Taylor Machine WorksA Resounding `No' to the Tort Reform Act ," will be published in its March issue. Professor David E. SorkinActivitiesOn January 16 he gave a presentation on irresponsible online advertising and its consequences, as part of a conference entitled Doing Business in a Networked World. The two-day conference was co-sponsored by John Marshall's Center for Information Technology and Privacy Law and the Computer Law Committee of the Chicago Bar Association. On January 20 he was interviewed by CNET Radio, a news service broadcast over the World Wide Web. He discussed the Navy's investigation and planned discharge of a sailor based upon his America Online user profile. PublicationsThe Chicago Tribune published his letter to the editor concerning ATM surcharges on January 23. The Tribune has previously published his letters concerning unsolicited e-mail, fair credit reporting, and media coverage of Mike Tyson's rape trial. Professor Mark E. WojcikActivitiesHe serves on an advisory board for a new Reader's Guide in Gay and Lesbian Studies being organized by Dr. Timothy F. Murphy, Associate Professor and Head of the Medical Humanities Program at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. PublicationsHe submitted two articles to the International Lawyer, an international law journal published by the American Bar Association's Section on International Law and Practice. The first article is a contribution on international legal developments in 1997 related to aspects of HIV and AIDS. The second article is a review of the current status of gay and lesbian rights under international human rights law. |
