Fair Housing Center/ClinicFair Housing Clinic Students Go to TrialLaw students Ray Sanguinetti and Evelyn Pacino recently represented a client of the Fair Housing Clinic in a hearing before The City of Chicago Commission on Human Relations. The case involves a woman who was denied the opportunity to purchase a home because of her source of income. Under the supervision of Joseph Butler, Evelyn and Ray questioned witnesses and had documentary evidence admitted. The Client and the Clinic are awaiting the Hearing Officer's written ruling. The case could set important precedent in that the Commission has not yet awarded damages for source of income in a fair housing case. Faculty Activity and PublicationsAdjunct Professor F. Willis CarusoActivitiesHe and Lillian Seymore of The John Marshall Law School Fair Housing Legal Support Center and Clinic trained the staff of the City of Bakersfield, California and Kern County, California on December 4, 5 & 6, 1997 at Bakersfield, California. These FHAP agencies are starting a major testing program using materials developed by the Fair Housing Center and the Fair Housing Clinic. It is expected the Clinic and the Center will provide continuing support, training and advice for these important programs. Professor Caruso was a member of the panel for a December 10, 1997 Community Development Program Satellite Broadcast at the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in Washington, D.C. The broadcast was received by approximately 650 HUD management and supervisory personnel throughout the 50 states. Professor Caruso's presentation, which opened the session, detailed the history of The Fair Housing Act and culminated in a discussion of case law decisions. Questions with respect to particular issues were telephoned in from HUD offices around the country. Professor Michael J.
