Real Estate LL.M. Student Receives Brooker Collegiate Scholarship |
|
Melli Holley, an LL.M. student at The John Marshall Law School, has been awarded a scholarship by The Institute of Real Estate Management.
The George M. Brooker Collegiate Scholarship for Minorities will help Holley with tuition expenses. One $2,500 scholarship is presented yearly to a graduate minority student with an outstanding academic record who plans to enter real estate management.
The scholarship is named for George M. Brooker, a co-founder of WB Real Estate in New York City in 1968. The firm developed signature properties under management for several of New York's leading financial institutions. He was respected within the real estate community and helped further the cause of minorities in the real estate profession.
Holley will receive an LL.M. degree in real estate law in May 2008 from John Marshall's Center for Real Estate Law. She is a policy compliance analyst for the Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) working on building new mixed-income communities for the CHA under its Plan for Transformation, which will serve as a blueprint for affordable housing in the future.
Holley received a bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota and a J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minn. She clerked for Judge David C. Higgs in Minnesota's 2nd Judicial District Court before coming to Chicago.
