Vietnam-Era Anti-War Play Reading at John Marshall |
Professor Ronald Smith acts as an attorney questioning a witness during a reading hosted by The John Marshall Law School of the work "The 4 Of Us" by playwright Richard Cahan. The play tells the story of four college students who, during the Vietnam War, make an anti-war statement by going to an Evanston draft office and spilling goat's blood on files of potential draftees. In the background is Dean John Corkery who acted as the judge in the case.
Preparing for the "trial" are (from left) Professor John Scheid, Elizabeth Cocat, Morghan Gleason, Gerad Dougvillo, Ari Scharg, and the playwright Richard Cahan.

Corporate Law Association Honors Two Business Leaders |
|
The Corporate Law Association at The John Marshall Law School is hosting its Third Annual Francis D. Morrissey Corporate Ethics Awards reception on Tuesday,
May 22, honoring Mary Robinson, former administrator of the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission (ARDC), who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Craig S. Donohue, chief executive officer of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and CME Holdings, receiving the Career Achievement Award.
The program will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Union League Club in Chicago.
Robinson spent 15 years as administrator of the ARDC, the Illinois Supreme Court agency that regulates the legal profession in Illinois and investigates alleged wrongdoing by Illinois attorneys. She began her affiliation with ARDC in 1989 when she was appointed by the court to serve as one of seven commissioners overseeing the agency.
During her tenure, the attorney ranks in Illinois grew from 61,107 to more than 83,000. Her work as administrator included establishing remedial education programs for lawyers in trouble; publishing practice guides for Illinois lawyers facing ethical questions; and under the Client Protection Program, implementing procedures for allocating funds and reimbursements to clients who lost money due to dishonest conduct by their lawyers.
Donohue, a 1987 graduate of The John Marshall Law School, played a leading role in CME's demutualization and initial public offering, which made CME the first publicly traded financial exchange in the United States. In addition, he has contributed significantly to setting the organization's vision and developing growth strategies to expand CME's core business and global distribution.
He was CME's lead negotiator for technology and product alliances with the world's leading exchanges and financial organizations, including the New York Mercantile Exchange, the Singapore Derivatives Exchange Ltd. (SGX), Standard & Poor's Corporation and The NASDAQ Stock Market, Inc. He also was instrumental in creating CME's historic clearing agreement with the Chicago Board of Trade® (CBOT®), and in developing OneChicago LLC, CME's single stock futures joint venture with CBOT® and the Chicago Board Options Exchange.®
