John Marshall Team Recognized at National Moot Court Competition |
The John Marshall team of (from left) Joseph Alexander, Melissa Webber and Nicole Bashor advanced to the quarterfinalist round, placing fifth, and were honored with the Second Place Brief Award at the National Sexual Orientation Moot Court Competition held this month. The team was coached by Professor Joanne Hodge (right). This year was the first time John Marshall sent a team to the annual competition, held at The Williams Institute UCLA School of Law.

Professor David Schwartz
Activities
On February 15, 2007, he served on a panel at a meeting of the Richard Linn Inn of Court. The panel's topic was "The Contribution of Academia to the Judicial Process in IP Litigation." The panel consisted of Professor Schwartz, the Honorable Judge Matthew Kennelly (N.D. Ill) and Professor Timothy Holbrook (Chicago-Kent Law School).
Professor Mark E. Wojcik
Activities
He was named to a new Subcommittee on Teaching Outside the United States, part of the Legal Writing Institute's new Committee on Global Legal Writing Programs. He has taught and lectured in a number of countries, including China, Indonesia, Lithuania, Mexico, Singapore, and Switzerland, and is an adjunct professor at the Facultad Libre de Derecho de Monterrey, Mexico and a permanent guest professor at the University of Lucerne Faculty of Law.
He serves as Co-Chair of the American Society of International Law Interest Group for Teaching International Law, and organized a special roundtable discussion on how to integrate the ASIL Centennial Resolution on the Laws of War and Occupation into Public International Law Classes. The session also included a discussion on how to incorporate international and foreign law materials into traditional classroom settings. The event was held on January 6, 2007 immediately after the Annual Meeting of the Association of American Law Schools. Associate Dean William B.T. Mock, Jr. was one of the participating speakers at the Roundtable Program.

Habit for Humanity will meet at 5 p.m. in room 217.
February 27
Student Organization Day will be in the student lounge from 4 to 6 p.m. If you are interested in joining or would like to know more about one of our student organizations, you will want to attend. All student organizations will be present to answer your questions. Refreshments will be served.
Women's Law Caucus will meet at noon in room 201.
February 28
The Black Law Students Association continues with events for "Black History Month" with "Unity Day" in the student lounge from 4 to 6 p.m. Eight student organizations will be joining BLSA to celebrate the month. A "potluck" will be enjoyed by all.
March 1
The Middle Eastern Law Student Association will meet at 5:15 p.m. in room 522.
The Securities Law Society will meet at noon in room 216. Pizza will be served.
The Environmental Law Society will meet at noon in room 201.
March 2
The Annual Barrister's Ball will be at the Mid-America Club at 8 p.m. See you there!
March 3
The Black Law Students Association will meet at 11 a.m. in room 1102.
Barrister's Ball tickets are available for sale from Marilyn Criss's office or from the SBA in the student lounge. You will want to attend this annual formal event. This year it will be held at the Mid-America Club. Tickets are $65 in advance and $75 at the door.
