International Guests Welcomed at John Marshall

The John Marshall Law School welcomed a delegation of 20 international guests on July 20 for the half-day program, "World Perspectives on Trade Liberalization," in cooperation with the International Visitors Center of Chicago and the International Trade Club of Chicago. The visitors, part of a U.S. Trade Policy program hosted by the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program, included delegates from: Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Cambodia, Kenya, Kuwait, Mexico, Morocco, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Singapore, Thailand, Venezuela and Zambia.

Professor Mark E. Wojcik

Activities

He taught a special two-week Legal English Course at the International Law Institute in Washington, D.C., where he is the Director of the Legal English Program. He based the course on his book, Introduction to Legal English, designed for lawyers and law students who speak English as a second language.

Publications

"Leaving Kids Alone in Cars: An Amendment to the Illinois Child Endangerment Statute is Declared Unconstitutional, But the Underlying Act Can Still Be Prosecuted Without a Statutory Presumption," 32:5 Human Rights 2 (June 2006). The article discusses a recent Illinois Supreme Court decision that declared unconstitutional an amendment to the state child endangerment statute.
