The Albert R. Mugel National Tax Moot Court Competition is one of the oldest tax competitions in the country. This premier competition is hosted by the University of Buffalo Law School and features teams from across the United States arguing a tax problem formulated by one of the country's leading scholars in federal income tax law, Professor Kenneth Joyce. In 2009, Jack O'Connor and Samantha Pennington placed Second in the competition and had the Second Best Brief. Ms. Pennington was the Second Best Oralist. In 2006, Lisa Barbieri and Robert Gray advanced to the Quarterfinals, and Robert Gray won Best Oralist in Preliminary Rounds.
