The John Marshall Law School Foundation

A Message from Foundation President John R. Lee ('73)

It is my pleasure to serve The John Marshall Law School as its Foundation President. By virtue of having graduated from John Marshall and serving as a Trustee and a member of the Board of Visitors, I have a thorough knowledge of the law school’s programs. Even more importantly, I have a passion for my alma mater and a profound sense of gratitude for my experiences here.

The John Marshall Law School has entered the 21st century with a bang. The law school is undertaking its first major construction program in over thirty years. We have decided to utilize the first floor of 304 S. State Street which since 1979 has housed a retail store. In embarking upon this restoration, we will be facing State Street with a new main lobby and student lounge. This is an exciting undertaking which will take more than a year to come to fruition.

In addition to this, The John Marshall Law School has purchased the three story, historically significant building at 19 W. Jackson Boulevard. At this moment, scaffolding has gone up around this structure as the construction team moves forward to preserve its terra-cotta exterior. When construction is complete, the much-lauded Veterans Legal Support Center & Clinic will be housed on its first floor. And to add to the excitement, the Foundation recently learned that a Chicago-based foundation will provide a $100,000 challenge grant for the build-out of the VLSC.

Your support of John Marshall is more important than ever. Many opportunities exist that could use your contribution. Please share in our excitement as we face State and expand our ability to serve the city of Chicago.
