Message from Scott Kruger, Foundation Executive Director
There are many ways to describe what my profession is and what The John Marshall Law School Foundation will do. Development seems to be the more accepted term in academia. I am partial to advancement as the term encompasses a range of activities that promotes the law school and supports our students, alumni and faculty beyond financial means. Make no mistake; what I and the Foundation will do here is fundraising.
No matter how you label it, fundraising at The John Marshall Law School will ultimately be about one thing - our students. Philanthropy is an investment in human capital. Every dollar we raise should be to the benefit of John Marshall students - tangible benefits like scholarships, enhanced curricular and extracurricular activities, and modern facilities and technology; plus intangible enhancements through better faculty scholarship and public service programming and outreach.
In stewarding this investment, I am accountable to you, our students, alumni and friends who are our donors. Asking you to generously support your law school comes with the promise that your contributions will be maximized to their fullest potential of helping our students. We will be good stewards of your financial resources, honoring our contributors by achieving exceptional results. Here, we will provide positive and measurable returns on investment that together we can witness and celebrate.
I am honored and excited to lead this new initiative for The John Marshall Law School. I am equally honored to work with my JMLS colleagues to safeguard and enhance our donors' trust and investment as measured by the quality of our graduates, our impact on the legal academy and profession, and the increasing value of your degree from John Marshall.
As we move forward, I look forward to learning more about how you define opportunities for future success with the hope that you will provide that necessary investment in our students. Thank you for your commitment to The John Marshall Law School.
