A nationally recognized authority on real estate law, Debra Stark has participated in numerous bar association, college, and law school programs, and has been an active leader within the ABA. She has published more than a dozen articles on real estate law topics, including an empirical study of foreclosures published by the University of Michigan Journal of Law Reform and a model mortgage counseling intervention law to combat predatory lending in the Harvard Blackletter Law Journal.
Professor Stark has authored and edited three real estate-related books published by the ABA as well as two textbooks, Commercial Real Estate Transactions: A Project and Skills Based Approach and Residential Real Estate Law: A Transactional Skills Analysis. She created the John Marshall Chapter of Habitat for Humanity and serves as its faculty advisor. She is also a member of the board of directors of the Lawyer's Committee for Better Housing and enjoys working with students on pro bono legal matters for both organizations.
