Dean John Corkery joined the John Marshall faculty after several years with the Chicago office of Lord, Bissell and Brook. He is a former chairman of the Illinois State Bar Association's Standing Committee on Professional Conduct and a member of the joint Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association and Illinois Judges' Association Judicial Ethics Committee. He has spoken at, and prepared materials for, numerous Illinois Judicial Conferences and bar association programs, and currently is a Reporter for the Illinois Judicial Conference Committee on Evidence.

Dean Corkery has testified as an expert witness in matters of professional responsibility and has been a member of the teaching faculty for the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission's Professional Responsibility Institute. He was a member of the Chicago Bar Association's Board of Managers for two years and has been a co-writer of the CBA's annual Gridiron musical, "Christmas Spirits," since 1973. He is the author of Illinois Civil and Criminal Evidence (2000).

Dean Corkery joined the faculty in 1973. He was named associate dean for academic affairs in 1998, vice dean in 2004, and served as acting dean until being named dean in 2007. He teaches Evidence, Family Law, and Professional Responsibility.
