Public Interest Career Conferences

Each year a number of organizations host career fairs concerning public interest practice areas or diversity.  Many students find jobs through these fairs.  Below is a brief list of some of these career conferences.  For a complete list please check  PSLawNet.  Please note that some of these fairs are only open to students from sponsoring law schools.

National Black Prosecutors Association 24th Annual Conference

Date:  Tuesday – July 17, 2007
Location:  Bellevue Hilton Hotel, Seattle, Washington
Deadlines/Fees:  Early registration is $50/students/07 graduates and $75/ laterals.  After June 1st, registration is $100/students/07graduates and $150/aterals. 
Materials:  Stop by the CSO to pick up the registration form.  Information also available at www.blackprosecutors.org  Submit the form, resume and a check for $50 directly to NBPA. 

Description:  Students and alumni interview for prospective employment in prosecutors’ offices at the local, state and federal levels



IMPACT Career Fair for Law Students and Graduates with Disabilities

Date:  Friday August 10, 2007
Location:  Sheraton Crystal city Hotel, Arlington, VA
Deadlines/Fees:  Registration deadline is July 6, 2007.  Please visit website www.law.arizona.edu/Career/IMPACT for more information. 

Description:  Students and alumni with disabilities interview with legal employers



Lavender Law Group

Date:  Thursday September 6 – Saturday September 8,  2007
Location:  Chicago
Deadlines/Fees: Early registration date August 15.  Fee is $115 per student.  After August 15, the fee goes up to $190.  Please visit website for information:  http://www.lavenderlaw.org/career.fair.html

Description:  LGBT students and alumni interview with legal employers from around the country.



Equal Justice Works Career Fair

Date:  Saturday & Sunday October 6 & 7, 2007
Location:  Omni Shoreham Hotel – Washington, D.C.
Deadlines/Fees:  Register directly through the EJW website: www.equaljusticeworks.org/careerfair/students/career.php by TBA
Eligibility:  Recommended for 2L & 3L students interested in public interest law    

Description:   Largest public interest-related job fair in the country, bringing together 200+ employers.



Midwest Public Interest Law Conference

Date:  TBA: Early February
Location:  Northwestern University Law School
Deadlines/Fees: TBA, For information go to: http://mpilcc.uchicago.edu/

Description:  Public Interst Employers from the Mid-West will host table talks and interview students for summer and permanent employment.
