It is undeniable that the practice of law and the market for lawyers are changing. Law firms are demanding that recent law school graduates arrive with ready-to-work skills that make them productive lawyers from the start. As a law student, the Business Transactions Externship Program (BTEP) offers you unique, real-world business and transactional legal experience. You'll represent actual clients in business and transactional matters under the guidance of a faculty supervisor, who is an experienced business and transactional lawyer.
Impact Communities
The BTEP will be the capstone experience to your legal education. It will enable you to apply the substantive principles of law you've learned throughout law school to real business and transactional matters. One of our goals is to inspire students like you to engage in public service throughout their careers. BTEP students impact communities through their work on behalf of clients that enhance:
- Economic revitalization of communities
- Economic independence
- Job retention and creation
