Refund Policy

The John Marshall refund policy set forth above applies to the spring and fall semesters. The John Marshall refund policies for the summer sessions are included in summer registration packets.

If a first-time student received or was awarded Title IV assistance during the semester he or she withdrew and the student withdrew on or before the 60% point in time of the enrollment period for which he or she was charged, the John Marshall refund policy is replaced by statutory Pro Rata Refund rules. Under a pro rata calculation, the refund is the amount proportional to the portion of the enrollment period that was not completed by the student, rounded down to the nearest 10%.

If a first-time student received or was awarded Title IV assistance during the semester that he or she withdrew BUT the student withdrew after the 60% mark of the enrollment period for which he or she was charged, or if a continuing student received or was awarded Title IV assistance in the semester of the withdrawal, the refund calculated under the John Marshall refund policy is compared to the refund calculated under the Federal refund calculation (listed below). The refund calculation that provides the larger refund is used.
