Lynn Semptimphelter Kopon (JD '82, LLM in Tax Law '06)
Managing Editor, CCH Incorporated

Chicago is a rich and diverse legal community, and the best teach in John Marshall's LLM program. There are many benefits to an LLM – one is the opportunity to concentrate your research and study in a particular area; another is the wonderful network of professionals that you meet in the program. I highly recommend the program.”

At CCH, Lynn manages a portfolio of professional tax journals and newsletters. Lynn also works with the CCH books portfolio on a range of tax and accounting professional titles, as well as textbooks for the school market.

Where Our Graduates Work

William Kinney

William Kinney (LLM in Employee Benefits '08)
Attorney, Asher, Gittler & D'Alba, Ltd.

The LLM program was helpful to me in terms of giving me a background in certain issues in employee benefits law. At my current job, I work with the boards of multi-employer trust fund benefits plans, and I also do litigation connected to those plans. The LLM program gave me background in litigation, as well as the transactional approaches that must be taken by the benefit fund trustees in terms of making proper benefits decisions and administering the plans.”

The majority of William's practice is in legal matters involving tax issues and ERISA benefit plans, including retirement, welfare, and other qualified and nonqualified benefit plans.

Tabitha Sabatino

Tabitha Sabatino ('10)
JD Certificate in Elder Law, LLM in Tax Law candidate

Elder Law includes so many areas of law that it is difficult for most practicing attorneys to figure out what they need to learn, let alone law students. John Marshall's Elder Law program provided me with guidance and instruction to develop a solid understanding of so many of the issues involved in elder law. In practice I feel competent and confortable working on a wide range of client and policy issues because John Marshall's program provided me with a strong foundation in so many aspects of this field of law.”
