The Sustainability Initiative

The Center for Real Estate Law is a recognized leader in the study of emerging trends in sustainability law and policy. Our Sustainability Initiative was designed for students in both the LLM and MS programs in Real Estate Law. To learn more about these degree opportunities, visit our graduate program pages:

Responding to the need for real estate lawyers and professionals to understand green building and sustainability in modern real estate transactions, our courses offer in-depth analysis of law, policy, and the impact of government regulation on the real estate industry and provide students with the skills to seek solutions to complex problems. Other topics explored in the curriculum include: climate change, historic preservation, natural resources law and protection of the environment, what it means to get LEED certification, water law, low-carbon building, and land management.

Courses are taught by real estate law professionals who are experts in this evolving area of the law.

The Sustainability Initiative charts the landscape for those interested in specializing in sustainability law and analyzing the development of public policy as new technologies are implemented.

The Center also offers a JD Certificate in Sustainability for JD candidates.
