Admission and Financial Aid
The student body includes those who begin the LLM program immediately after earning their JD degrees as well as those who enroll after having been in practice. Those with a real estate practice enroll to expand their substantive knowledge and skill set. This group includes attorneys with their own practices, attorneys working for law firms, corporate law departments and governmental agencies. Other attorneys decide to return to law school and enter the program when they realize that they need to refocus their careers. The Program admits students in both the fall and spring semesters. Each year the student body includes students who moved to Chicago to attend John Marshall law School and earn an LLM in Real Estate Law. These students generally return to their home jurisdiction to practice after completing the program. Students who enroll right after receiving their JD degree most often sit for the bar in the jurisdiction where they intend to practice before beginning the program.
