Admission Requirements

We accept applications on a rolling basis for admission for the Fall and Spring semesters.

General Admission Requirements:

  1. A $60 application fee, which must accompany the application. This fee is non-refundable. Fee waivers are not available.
  2. Transcripts for graduation of an accredited college or university, holding at least a bachelor's degree.  If apply for the LLM Program, ttranscripts for graduation of law school.
  3. A member of a foreign bar or graduate of an accredited foreign law school holding the equivalent of a US law degree.  These applicants must present an acceptable score on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).  An acceptable score is 80 or higher on the Internet-based (iBT) TOEFL exam with a minimum score of 20 on the writing section.
  4. Submit a current resume
  5. Statement of Purpose (Question #5 on the application)

Additional Joint JD/LLM Requirements for John Marshall Students. Applicants for the Joint JD/LLM Program are required to meet the following criteria and provide the following supporting documentation in addition to the General Admission Requirements:

  1. Completed at least 29 credit hours worth of JD coursework.
  2. 2.5 GPA in current JD coursework.

Additional Requirements for MS in Real Estate Law for Non-Attorney Real Estate ProfessionalsApplicants for the MS Program in Real Estate Law for Non-Attorney Real Estate Professionals are required to meet the following criteria and provide the following supporting documentation in addition to the General Admission Requirements:

  1. Have experience working in the commercial real estate field
  2. Submit a writing sample.  Acceptable examples are: a published article, a risk assessment paper, executive summary documenting a project or decision point, exam papers or research papers.
