Skills Jittima Srithaporn acquired through the LL.M. Program in Intellectual Property Law at The John Marshall Law School have enabled her to focus on intellectual property (IP) matters as a counselor at the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C.
“After I earned an LL.M. degree in international and U.S. legal studies in 1995 from Case Western Reserve University, I worked as a legal officer at the Department of Intellectual Property for the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand,” Srithaporn explained.
“I wanted to broaden my knowledge and gain more experience in the field of IP. In 2003, I received a government scholarship that allowed me to resume my studies. I chose John Marshall because of the comprehensive program in intellectual property and the law school’s reputation in the field of IP,” she said.

Srithaporn was a full-time student at John Marshall completing the LL.M. degree in a year’s time. Srithaporn returned to Thailand and her position in the Ministry of Commerce. In 2007, she was assigned to the Royal Thai Embassy where she serves as counselor (commercial) for the Office of Commercial Affairs, the overseas representative office for the Ministry of Commerce.
“My work focuses primarily on intellectual property issues at both the multilateral and bilateral levels. I also deal with other trade-related issues.
“I have found the knowledge and experience I have from my LL.M. program at The John Marshall Law School a benefit to me in my work here at the embassy,” she added.
