Letter From the Director

Paul Lewis

Paul Lewis, Center Director

Dear Applicant,

International business and trade is booming. Increasing globalization, the WTO, and NAFTA mean that any business entity ignores the international sphere at its own peril. Naturally, achieving success in such business activity requires lawyers trained in the special issues and regulation of international business and trade.

John Marshall's LL.M. Program in International Business and Trade Law trains such lawyers, taking skilled legal practitioners and giving them the additional edge needed to render legal services to businesses in the international marketplace. As the Midwest's premier international business law LL.M. program, it supplies advanced legal training to lawyers from the United States and around the world. Located in downtown Chicago, with a wealth of international business and law connections, John Marshall offers a wonderful venue for international business and trade law study in the international center of America's heartland.

The LL.M. Program in International Business and Trade Law offers students a wide range of study opportunities. Through direct and cross-curricular offerings with John Marshall's other LL.M. programs, students in international business and trade law may select from more than 40 courses in different aspects of international economic law. In addition, students may concentrate in international corporate law or international trade law by completing a set sequence of courses in those fields.

With all these options, degree candidates will find ample opportunity to prepare for the global marketplace of business and legal services. Thank you for considering The John Marshall Law School for your advanced legal education needs.

With our broad curriculum, our fine faculty and our superb location, we should be able to provide you with the training you seek in preparing for legal practice in our ever-shrinking world.

Professor Paul B. Lewis
Director, Center for International Business and Trade Law
