Tuition

Tuition for the 2008-2009 academic year is $1,210 per credit hour.  At John Marshall, students pay only for the credit hours they are registering for on a semester basis, plus a semester registration fee.

Financial Aid

Students who need help financing their graduate education at The John Marshall Law School may be eligible for student loans.  Graduate students must be enrolled for at least three credit hours per semester in order to be eligible to borrow annually through the Federal Stafford Loan Program.  It may also be possible to apply for private educational loans for additional funding.   International students are not eligible for federal student loans, but some private education loan programs may be able to assist them.  Please contact The John Marshall Law School Financial Aid office directly.  International students may also wish to check websites such as the International Education Financial Aid website at www.iefa.org or contact the educational attachés at the U.S. embassies in their respective countries.

Housing and Living Expenses

Whether you prefer to rent an apartment within walking distance of the Law School, share an apartment with other students on the near north side, or commute to the suburbs, you will have a range of housing options in the Chicagoland area.  Chicago’s comprehensive local and regional transportation systems give students the freedom to choose either an urban or suburban environment.  The Graduate Admission and International Education Services Office assists students with housing recommendations.

Visit the JMLS housing guide for more information.

Proof of Immunization

Proof of immunization against certain communicable diseases may be required of certain enrolled students under section 694 of title 77 of the Illinois Administrative Code.

English Language Proficiency

Whenever necessary, the Director may require any foreign graduate student to undertake additional formal study of the English language, as a condition of continuing in the graduate program. A number of programs in English as a second language are available locally.
