Overview of Illinois Bar Exam

DAY ONE

Morning - (2 parts)

1) Illinois Essay Exam (IEE) - 3 essay questions written by the Illinois Bar Examiners.  Time: 90 minutes.

2) Multistate Performance Test (MPT) - a written assignment based on a realistic situation a lawyer may encounter.  All of the information needed to complete the assignment is provided.  Time: 90 minutes.

Afternoon - (1 part)

Multistate Essay Exam (MEE) - 6 essay questions written by the National Conference of Bar Examiners.  Time: 3 hours.

Administrative Law; Agency; Commercial Paper; Conflicts of Laws; Corporations; Equity; Family Law; Federal Jurisdiction & Procedure; Federal Taxation; Illinois Civil Procedure; Partnership; Personal Property; Sales; Secured Transactions; Suretyship; Trusts & Future Interests; Wills; Constitutional Law; Contracts/Sales; Criminal Law & Procedure; Evidence; Real Property; Torts

DAY TWO

Morning - Multistate Bar Exam (MBE) - 100 multiple-choice questions.  Time: 3 hours.

Afternoon - MBE (cont.) - 100 multiple-choice questions.  Time: 3 hours.

MBE topics and number of questions for each are as follows:

Constitutional Law (33); Contracts/Sales (34); Criminal Law & Procedure (33); Evidence (33); Real Property (33); Torts (34)
